Kabhi Kabhie and Silsila

About Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan’s films with Yash Chopra for Yash Raj Films include Kabhi Kabhie (27 February 1976), the story of a poet, Amit; Kaala Patthar (1979), in which he plays Vijay; and Silsila (14 August 1981).

On screen

Two decades later he was Narayan Shankar, the stern headmaster of Gurukul who forbids romance, in Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein (2000), and Yashovardhan Raichand, the head of the family, in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). In Black (2005) he starred opposite Rani Mukerji, and in Thugs of Hindostan (2018) he is Azaad.

On the Silsila soundtrack he sings “Rang Barse Bheege Chunarwali” and “Neela Aasman So Gaya” (Yash Raj Films).

Yash Raj Films’ music credits name him as the singer of “Rang Barse Bheege Chunarwali”, from Silsila.

Our advice: watch Kabhi Kabhie, then Silsila, for Yash Chopra’s poetry on screen.
