Preity Zinta starred with Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji in Yash Chopra’s Veer-Zaara (12 November 2004), the story of an Indian Air Force pilot and a young woman from across the border, told across twenty-two years (Yash Raj Films).

On screen

In Rakesh Roshan’s Koi… Mil Gaya (2003) she is Nisha, the friend of Hrithik Roshan’s Rohit. In Salaam Namaste (2005), set in Melbourne, she is Ambar, a radio presenter, opposite Saif Ali Khan’s chef, Nick, and in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007) she is Alvira Khan.

Her earlier films include Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se (1998), with Shah Rukh Khan.

Veer-Zaara’s songs are set to tunes by the late Madan Mohan, with words by Javed Akhtar.

Our advice: Veer-Zaara is the one to see, with a soundtrack worth hearing on its own.
