About Kajol

Kajol is the Simran of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the 1995 love story that Yash Raj Films calls the longest-running film in Indian cinema. Her pairing with Shah Rukh Khan runs through some of the best-loved Hindi films of the 1990s and 2000s.

On screen

In Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (20 October 1995) she plays Simran, who meets Raj on an inter-rail holiday in Europe before she is taken home to India for an arranged marriage. Three years later she was Anjali in Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Anjali again in his Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).

In Fanaa (2006) she plays Zooni Ali Beg opposite Aamir Khan, and in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale (2015), from Red Chillies, she and Shah Rukh Khan are lovers parted by a family feud and reunited fifteen years on. She is also Mandira in My Name Is Khan (2010), from Dharma Productions.

Raj and Simran first meet on an inter-rail holiday in Europe.

Our advice: start with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, then read our Shah Rukh Khan story for the Mumbai places linked to it.
