Alibag: the back story
The back story
About Alibag: the back story
Alibag is the main beach town of Raigad district, across the harbour from Mumbai. The Raigad district administration describes its beach as flat and wide, good for long walks and usually not crowded on weekdays; Kolaba Fort, just offshore, can be reached on foot at low tide.
The beach and the fort
Walk out to Kolaba Fort at low tide, and check the tide before you set off.
Getting there
Catamarans and ferries run from the Gateway of India to the Alibag side (Raigad district), and the road over Atal Setu shortens the drive.
Kolaba Fort can be reached on foot at low tide.
Our advice: go on a weekday and stay the night.
